About 'Werkgroup Keerpunt' (The Taskgroup ‘Turning Point’)

The Taskgroup ‘Turning Point’ labours for a just peace in Palestine and Israel and wants to help Christians and church organizations in forming opinions and in stimulating them to show their solidarity in word and deed. 

We endorse the appeal by the World Council of Churches ‘to put an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine and to support a just peace in the Middle East’ (March 5, 2002). 

The same appeal is made over and over again by Israeli and Palestinian peace groups and human rights organisations. 

The Israeli – Palestinian conflict

The present state of affairs in Palestine and Israel adds to the ever-increasing spiral of violence and justice that must be broken. The people of both Palestine and Israel are in danger of more and more becoming victims of this situation in many respects. 

In their appeal the World Council of Churches states that by not speaking out and committing ourselves politically and religiously we become accessory to the violence. 

Violation of human rights, illegal occupation or re-occupation, the Palestinian refugee rights and a just solution of the Israeli – Palestinian conflict, are the concern of us all.

We speak of a ‘just peace’ since we realize that there can only be a state of peace if the relations between the parties ....
